It’s now less than a week before the transfer window reopens, so how busy will Chelsea be in the New Year?
The future of Blues youngster Omari Kellyman, 19, is certainly an interesting topic for discussion.
Chelsea signed Kellyman from Aston Villa at the end of June in a deal worth £19m (BBC), but supporters have barely had a glimpse of him.
The teenage attacking midfielder has played a couple of games for the Under-21s side. However, he’s still waiting to make his first-team debut for Chelsea because of injury problems.
Kellyman is open to leaving Chelsea on loan in January after a frustrating injury-hit first half of the season. How do the Blues feel about his future, though?

Chelsea earmark Omari Kellyman for a loan move
According to The Athletic, Chelsea are planning to send Kellyman out on loan for the second half of the season.
It is explained that the Blues have earmarked the 19-year-old playmaker for a loan spell away from Stamford Bridge for the rest of the campaign.
The report mentions there may not be too many incomings at Chelsea in next month’s January window, but there’s an opportunity for some players to leave, whether that’s permanently or on loan.
What position does Omari Kellyman play?
Chelsea talent Kellyman claims he’s best in a No 10 position as an attacking playmaker behind the striker.
Even if the English teenager was fit, it’s hard to see how he’d get too many first-team minutes right now at the Bridge. As it stands, the Blues have the likes of Cole Palmer, Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku competing for the No 10 role.
Villa didn’t want to get rid of Kellyman in the summer, but their hands were tied in order to stay compliant with PSR.
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has already shown he’s willing to promote young stars and give them a chance in their first team, but it would be best for all parties if Kellyman gets a taste of senior football out on loan in 2025.
