Chelsea’s summer spending is not done yet, and the Blues are looking to add Premier League experience to their backline before the new season gets underway.
A number of centre-backs are expected to depart the club this summer, with Axel Disasi one of those who is clearly out of Enzo Maresca’s plans.
Despite already stating that he would love to stay at Stamford Bridge, Benoit Badiashile is also on the chopping block. His injury record has been a cause for concern since he joined the club in 2023.
While the Blues have already done plenty of work strengthening their attack already this summer, attention looks as if it is turning to the backline at last.

Chelsea make new contact with Marc Guehi over possible transfer
Chelsea are long-term admirers of Marc Guehi, and with just a year left on his contract a move this summer looks very possible.
It has been reported that Crystal Palace have accepted that Guehi is going to leave the club, and the Blues are circling around a potential deal.
Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed that Chelsea have made contact with Guehi’s agents to try and establish whether they would be successful in attempting to bring him to the club, and the defender is interested in a move to West London.
He said on his Substack: “SPTC sources understand that Chelsea have again made new contact with the agents of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, a player who has been on Chelsea’s defender shortlist for some time now.
“Guehi has a lot of interest and not just from Chelsea, and he is expected to depart his club this summer.
“Chelsea are looking into the player side of the deal right now and seeing if anything is possible there as they look to bring in a new centre back in the latter end of the window.
“Guehi is believed to be open to making a move back to Chelsea this summer but is also aware of other interest from big clubs in the Premier League.”
After taking the role of captain of the FA Cup winners, the England international would bring some much-needed experience to the Blues squad.

Chelsea have another big defensive transfer target
As well as a big clearout at the heart of defence, work is needed to address the left-back position too. The Blues currently only have Marc Cucurella as a genuine option to play there.
Chelsea have been strongly linked with the signing of Jorrel Hato from Ajax, who can provide cover at both left-back and centre-back.
The Blues are seen as ‘most advanced’ in the race for Hato, however face competition from Liverpool and Arsenal for his signature.
