Chelsea are not feeling confident about signing Victor Osimhen from Napoli this summer – which is sure to upset Mauricio Pochettino.

That is according to the Evening Standard.

What’s the story?

Well, it was 90min who claimed that the Nigeria international is Pochettino’s No.1 striker target at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Now – however – Chelsea are exploring other options, amid doubts over whether Osimhen is a realistic signing.

The Evening Standard believe Napoli are demanding £130m for their No.9 this summer after he scored 31 goals in 39 games last season, which fired the Italian giants to the Serie A title.

That means Chelsea would have to shatter their transfer record, which currently stands at the £106.8m spent on Enzo Fernandez, to sign the 24-year-old.

PSG are described as the frontrunners to sign Osimhen in the Evening Standard’s story.

Who Chelsea could sign instead of Osimhen

The Evening Standard also mentioned a few other strikers who Chelsea are looking at.

It is said that talks are taking place with Montpellier over a deal to sign Elye Wahi this summer, who is considering a number of opportunities at the moment.

The Evening Standard add that Juventus No.9 Dusan Vlahovic is also being viewed as a potential signing by Chelsea, with the Italian giants open to selling the Serbia international.

Roma No.21 Paulo Dybala is also mentioned in the article, with Pochettino described as being a long-term admirer of the Argentina international.

The South American represents a tempting opportunity for Chelsea this summer, as he has a release clause worth just £10.2m written into his contract at the Stadio Olimpico.

Clearly, Chelsea have identified a few alternatives to Osimhen, so we would expect another new striker to arrive at Stamford Bridge this summer in addition to Nicolas Jackson.
