Chelsea could revive their interest in one target from the club’s previous ownership in the January transfer window.

Chelsea look to be in desperate need of a new central defender right now. Levi Colwill is unavailable, while Trevoh Chalobah and Tosin Adarabioyo have really struggled in the team’s last couple of games.

Following their performances against Bayern Munich, Chelsea fans were fuming with Chalobah and Adarabioyo.

It now seems as though the Club World Cup winners are weighing up bringing in another centre-back this winter.

Chelsea considering Gleison Bremer move

According to journalist Simon Phillips, who has shared a transfer update on his Substack Si Phillips Talks Chelsea, Chelsea were interested in Juventus star Gleison Bremer when Roman Abramovich was still in charge of the club.

Abramovich has been gone for three years now, but Phillips has claimed that Bremer is still on the radar at Stamford Bridge as the Blues consider making a move for him in January.

Juventus will not want to sell the Brazilian. He is an experienced centre-half who has captained the club in the Champions League this season.

Even so, it would not be a shock to see Chelsea test the waters, given the current predicament that they are in.

In 2023, Bremer revealed that he wants to play in England one day, so Chelsea may be able to convince him to join them.

Gleison Bremer inspired by Chelsea legend

Being a Brazilian defender, it is no surprise to hear that Bremer has been inspired by Thiago Silva, a Chelsea legend.

Bremer discussed Silva and some other top centre-halves last February, saying: “[Virgil] Van Dijk is two steps above me, he also won the Champions League. I am also inspired by Giorgio Chiellini and Thiago Silva.”

He could soon get the opportunity to follow in his countryman’s footsteps and play for Chelsea, who need his quality right now.

Until the January transfer window opens, Enzo Maresca will have to make do with the likes of Chalobah and Adarabioyo.

The pair need to really up their game for Chelsea’s sake but also theirs; otherwise, they could quickly find themselves fighting for their futures.
