Chelsea are expected to step up their interest in signing Everton midfielder Amadou Onana.
That is according to well-respected journalist Simon Phillips.
Reporting on his Substack, Phillips has claimed that it’s now ‘increasingly likely’ that Chelsea will push forward with a move for Everton’s Amadou Onana.
It is understood that the Blues, who have liked the 21-year-old since January, appreciate a lot of the central midfielder’s physical attributes.
He adds that Everton would demand between £40million-£50million for their Belgian star.
Also, Onana really wants to seal a move away from Goodison Park and is keen on a potential switch to Chelsea.

Phillips mentions that Chelsea are looking at Brighton’s Moises Caicedo as their priority target in the centre of the park, something which is widely agreed with in the media.
In fact, journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed on Twitter this week that Chelsea are prepared to attack with their move for Caicedo.
However, Mauricio Pochettino’s side are open to adding two new midfielders in the same window.
In fairness, there’s definitely a need to strengthen the central midfield area following a mass exodus already this summer.

With Onana potentially available for as little as £40million, the Everton man is certainly an interesting target for the Blues.
He’s a young defensive midfielder with big potential and he showed real promise in a poor team at Goodison Park last season.
However, we have doubts over whether he’s ready to shine in an elite side.
It would be great to have a powerhouse midfielder operating in a No 6 position next to Enzo Fernandez at Chelsea, so we can definitely understand the appeal in Everton’s Rolls-Royce.
