Chelsea are so busy in this summer’s transfer window that if you look away for a second, you’re likely to miss something.
The Blues are currently involved in several different transfer sagas, but they’ve just been linked with another new name in the rumour mill.
One developing story at Stamford Bridge is the future of their midfielder Conor Gallagher, who’s proposed move to Atletico Madrid hit a standstill this week. Journalist Ben Jacobs reports on X that Atletico have set a deadline of Wednesday for Gallagher’s transfer.
Elsewhere, Chelsea continue to push players out the exit doors, with Lesley Ugochukwu (loan to Southampton) and Mason Burstow (permanent to Hull City) both leaving in the last 24 hours.
Now, Enzo Maresca’s side have just been linked with a new defensive target.

Chelsea interested in Joe Gomez
According to The Times, Chelsea are one of several clubs interested in signing Liverpool defender Joe Gomez.
It is explained that the 27-year-old player is now considering his Liverpool future after being left out of the squad for their opening Premier League fixture against Ipswich Town on Saturday.
The report states that Chelsea, Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Fulham are the Premier League sides keen on Gomez.
There’s no doubt that the versatile defender, who can play centre-back or either full-back position, is a quality player. He was part of the England squad at this summer’s Euro 2024 tournament, albeit he wasn’t used.
Gomez has had a very successful career at Anfield, which has included winning one Champions League and one Premier League.
Speaking via beIN SPORTS last season, former Reds boss Jurgen Klopp described Gomez as “incredible” after one individual performance.
Should Chelsea sign Joe Gomez?
While Gomez is clearly a strong defender that belongs at the top level, Chelsea should stay clear of this particular deal.
The Blues are already well stacked with defenders across their entire backline, so adding another to an inflated squad makes little sense. Hopefully, the club’s recruiters take a look at the current options before advancing any interest.
Even if Chelsea decided Gomez was a good fit for them, he’s a player whose career at Liverpool has been interrupted regularly by injuries.
