Chelsea are now in pole position to sign Tyler Adams from Leeds United – with a bid expected to be made in the coming days.
That is according to Mike McGrath of the Telegraph.
So, what is the situation involving Tyler Adams and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well – according to the Daily Mail – the United States international is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge, and is available for just £20m due to a release clause written into his contract at Elland Road.
Now, there have been further updates about Adams – who Jesse Marsch once called a “special” footballer.
McGrath wrote on Twitter that Chelsea are expected to bid for the American within the next few days, before adding in his report on the situation that Chelsea are frontrunners to secure his signature.
The Telegraph’s story adds that Chelsea view Adams as someone who would arrive in addition to Moises Caicedo rather than instead of him.

Chelsea are still trying to sign the Brighton No.25 – according to the Guardian, a fifth bid will soon be made after a fourth offer worth £80m was rejected.
That makes sense, as Chelsea need more midfield reinforcements than just the Ecuador international alone, after losing Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and N’Golo Kante this summer.
Tyler Adams would be a great signing by Chelsea
Some Chelsea fans may feel underwhelmed about this news as they compare Adams to Caicedo, but nobody should be turning their nose up at the Leeds United No.12 this summer.
The 24-year-old captained the United States at the World Cup in Qatar, and will bring strong leadership skills to Pochettino’s hugely inexperienced squad.

Adams is also available for just £20m – as previously mentioned – which represents a bargain in the modern era.
In our view, the New York-born maestro has what it takes to become a fan favourite at Stamford Bridge.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Chelsea ramp up their interest in Adams.
