Chelsea now planning to make fresh move for 21-year-old after missing out on him this summer

Chelsea are planning to return for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise.

That is according to journalist Simon Phillips.

Chelsea were in for Michael Olise during the summer and actually activated his release clause, as reported by BBC Sport. But in a surprising development, the 21-year-old ended up staying at Selhurst Park and signing a new contract.

That does not look to be the end of Chelsea’s interest, though, with Phillips claiming on his Substack that the club will make a fresh move for Olise next summer.

While Chelsea missed out on Olise, they were at least able to bring in Cole Palmer, who they believe has a huge future ahead of him.

Which Chelsea player could be in danger if the club sign Michael Olise?

Olise arriving at Stamford Bridge would certainly spell bad news for Noni Madueke, who has barely played this season.

Madueke has started just one game in the Premier League under Mauricio Pochettino so far.

He is currently competing against Palmer, Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk for a place in Pochettino’s starting XI, which has been a difficult task given the form of Palmer and Sterling.

Mudryk has not been too bad either when he has played, scoring a couple of goals this term against Arsenal and Fulham.

Add another winger to the mix, and you really would have to start fearing for Madueke’s future at the club.

Chelsea only bought Madueke in January and he is clearly a talented player. You only have to look at some of his recent performances for the England U21s to know that. It would be nice, then, if the former PSV Eindhoven man got more time and opportunities.

But if Chelsea do go on to sign Olise or another wide man next year, then it is hard to see that happening.
