Chelsea plan to send Elye Wahi out on loan to Strasbourg if the Blues manage to strike an agreement with Montpellier.

That is according to Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato.

So, what is the situation involving Elye Wahi and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well – according to L’Equipe – Chelsea have been in negotiations over a deal to sign the Frenchman for a number of days now, and the Blues are expected to make a bid this week.

However, it seems as if Mauricio Pochettino is not planning for Wahi to be a first-team option at Stamford Bridge next season.

Aouna believes Chelsea are working on a deal to sign the 20-year-old effectively on Strasbourg’s behalf, with the Blues then likely to welcome him to west London in the 2024/25 campaign if he does well in Ligue 1.

The evidence suggests he will – Wahi scored 19 goals in 33 Ligue 1 appearances last season.

L’Equipe believe Montpellier want €30m (£26m) for the France Under-21 international, who has already rejected Bournemouth and Union Berlin.

Elye Wahi won’t be the only Chelsea gem at Strasbourg

Since Todd Boehly completed a 100% takeover of Strasbourg, Chelsea have been working on another deal which will benefit the French side next season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are extremely close to announcing the signing of Angelo Gabriel from Santos, and The Athletic believe he is likely to be loaned out to Strasbourg.

If that is the case, then at least the Brazilian prospect won’t be alone, as Chelsea plan to also send Wahi out to link up with Patrick Vieira, where the Blues hope he will develop into a player who can be of use to Pochettino.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Chelsea look to wrap up a deal for Wahi after closing an agreement on Angelo.
