Chelsea are “unlikely” to sign Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale in the January transfer window.

That is according to journalist Dean Jones.

Aaron Ramsdale, 25, finds himself as a popular topic in the transfer rumour mill due to his recent struggles at the Emirates Stadium.

The Arsenal gloveman has lost his starting position to David Raya this season as the first-choice keeper.

Therefore, it’s no surprise to read the English goalkeeper linked with a possible transfer.

Aaron Ramsdale future

Dean Jones has reported that Ramsdale’s unlikely to move away from Arsenal in January.

Apparently, there’s doubt around the future of the £60million-rated shot-stopper, but he look set to at least see out the rest of the season in North London.

As for interested buyers Chelsea, they want to go big in 2024 and sign an elite keeper.

“There is doubt around Aaron Ramsdale, what I would say is that it’s unlikely he does end up leaving in January. Chelsea is the prime place being talked about for Aaron Ramsdale to go. We’re talking about a £60m transfer when Aaron Ramsdale does leave Arsenal and Chelsea are starting to open up to the idea of signing a new goalkeeper in 2024 and an elite one,” Jones said on the Ranks FC podcast.

Chelsea GK position

Robert Sanchez is definitely still trying to win over sections of the fanbase during his first Chelsea season. As a result, it’s not a big surprise to be linked with some other goalkeeper.

Sanchez, 25, is a young keeper with the opportunity now to nail down a starting position at Stamford Bridge. Does the Spaniard have the quality to be the long-term option, though?

The Athletic claimed last moth that Chelsea think Sanchez can become one of the world’s best goalkeepers in the future.

Despite losing his Arsenal spot recently, Ramsdale may be a bit more prove than Sanchez at this stage.

Described as “sensational” via Gary Lineker’s X account, Ramsdale does have huge character and a lot of quality.

We’re not convinced that he’s the elite goalkeeper the club desires, though.
