Chelsea are apparently holding out for an Arsenal fiasco in the pursuit of Mykhaylo Mudryk before they consider their own bid.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues are ‘also interested in Mudryk’ in the event that a ‘deal collapses’ between Shakhtar Donetsk and Mikel Arteta’s employers.
Arsenal remain the most likely Premier League side to secure the Ukrainian’s services, due to their persistence in attempting to sign him.
Romano reported that the Gunners have ‘improved their proposal’ to acquire the 21-year-old, having already been turned down once by Shakhtar.

Mudryk’s bosses rejected a £52m offer from the North London club, but may reconsider their view if a big bundle of cash is presented to them.
If the Emirates chain of command are refused for a second time, however, Chelsea might muscle in on the operation.
Mykhaylo Mudryk monitored by Chelsea
Todd Boehly is already said to be in the picture for Mudryk, who has shone this season both domestically and in Europe.
Thierry Henry described him as ‘impressive’ following the 1-1 Champions League draw with Real Madrid in October.
The exciting winger scored or assisted five times in the group stage, a return that has increased further in the Premier Liga.

He has certainly posed a better offensive threat than any of Graham Potter’s current attacking players.
It is therefore no surprise that Boehly is seemingly lingering around Arsenal to see if they slip up in the race for Mudryk.
