Chelsea would like to reach a stage where Conor Gallagher signs a new contract at Stamford Bridge.
That is according to a report from The Athletic.
Blues midfielder Conor Gallagher, 23, was strongly linked with a move away from the club during the recent summer transfer window.
The Guardian reported last month that there was a strong chance Gallagher would be sold by Chelsea.
However, he’s stayed as part of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad and started every game so far this season.

The Athletic explains that Chelsea were open to offers for Gallagher, Ian Maatsen and Trevoh Chalobah in the summer, but nobody reached their valuations.
It is now up to the club to win back their players that feel unwanted.
The report says that the Blues could try get Gallagher and Maatsen to sign new deals.
In particular Gallagher is ‘valued highly’ by Chelsea boss Pochettino.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on X earlier in the summer that Chelsea rejected a bid worth around £40million for Gallagher.
The Blues ignored the chance to make a huge profit on their balance sheets by selling one of their academy graduates, who’s ended up staying under Pochettino.
We very much feel like Gallagher’s long-term future is going to be decided by how these next few months go at Chelsea. Ultimately, the England international will need to see he’ll play regularly.
