There is every chance that Chelsea will announce the signing of Morgan Rogers on Tuesday. A club-record deal is in the offing, but Chelsea and BlueCo are not finished there this summer.
After reports emerged on Saturday afternoon that Chelsea were set to splash a whopping £117m on Rogers, the Aston Villa star was spotted at Cobham on Monday undergoing a medical ahead of a move.

It sees Chelsea smash their own transfer record, while making Rogers the most expensive Englishman of all time – £1m more than Elliot Anderson. Rogers becomes the fourth-most-expensive player of all time.
Rogers is set to become the second addition of the Xabi Alonso era, and a third is close too. Despite the enormous amount of money spent to sign Rogers, Chelsea are set to take their spending north of £200m.
Maxence Lacroix is ‘one step away’ from joining Chelsea
Lacroix has been strongly linked with Chelsea for weeks now. The Crystal Palace star impressed last term, and Palace have been keen to make as much profit as possible on their £18m signing from Wolfsburg.
Since France’s exit from the World Cup, Chelsea have accelerated their talks for Lacroix. Some reports say that Behdad Eghbali even met with Steve Parish in New York before the World Cup final to discuss Lacroix.
Palace are using Tottenham’s £52m signing of Jan Paul van Hecke as a yardstick, with BBC Sport now saying Palace want as much as £60m for Lacroix. But that does not seem to have put Chelsea off.
According to Nicolo Schira, Chelsea are ‘one step away’ from completing a deal to sign Lacroix from their London rivals. He claims that Lacroix has put pen to paper on a deal until June 2032, with wages agreed.
Schira confirmed as much on his X account: “Maxence Lacroix is one step away from joining Chelsea from Crystal Palace. Already agreed personal terms for a contract until 2032.”
How much have Chelsea now spent on new signings?
Such a deal would see Lacroix remain at Stamford Bridge until he is 32, which is a signal of intent from BlueCo that they have learned from their past mistakes and are now willing to bring in older players.

Lacroix is an excellent addition if Chelsea do get the green light, even if they have had to deal with Palace increasing their fee for the Frenchman. A £60m fee would take Chelsea’s spending to a massive £224m.
Rogers at £117m and Palestra at £47m. Chelsea have also brought in Geovany Quenda, Denner, Valentin Barco, Emmanuel Emegha and Dastan Satpaev from previously agreed transfers before Alonso’s arrival.
Obviously, that looks like a huge amount of money spent. But Chelsea have already raked in more than £120m in player sales this summer, while receiving £17m from Man City in Enzo Maresca compensation.
