It is no secret that Romelu Lukaku wants to leave Chelsea this summer as he targets a return to Inter Milan.

Now – however – specific details about the Belgium international’s desires have been revealed by Corriere dello Sport.

So, what is the latest on Romelu Lukaku? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the Italian news outlet believe the 30-year-old wants Chelsea to agree a deal with Inter Milan before Thursday 13th July.

Why? Well, Lukaku is keen to be involved in pre-season training with the Italian giants, and is currently training by himself in Sardinia to maintain his fitness.

That means Chelsea and Inter Milan have just ten days to finalise an agreement for the Belgian if they want to satisfy his desires.

However, we can’t see why Chelsea would have any urgency to do so, given the way Lukaku has treated the Blues since his £97.5m return to Stamford Bridge in August 2021.

The striker famously held an interview expressing his love for Inter Milan just weeks after his arrival in west London and went on to perform terribly, scoring just eight Premier League goals in 26 appearances in the 2021/22 campaign.

Ball is in Inter Milan’s court as Chelsea make demands known

The Mirror believe Chelsea only want £34m for Lukaku this summer, as those at Stamford Bridge prepare to accept a huge loss on Lukaku.

However, Chelsea are not in desperate need of that money, so the ball is in Inter Milan’s court.

The Italian giants are the ones who want Lukaku, and he wants them, so it’s up to those at the San Siro to make a deal happen, as Chelsea are being very, very reasonable with their asking price.

Having said that, Mauricio Pochettino will not want to be stuck with an unhappy player next season, so it would be best for all parties if Inter Milan hurry up and make an acceptable offer.
