As ever with Chelsea and this current ownership, the upcoming transfer window is likely to be just as busy as it always has been and already, the Blues are poised to make their first transfer bid soon.
For many, aside from hiring a new manager, Chelsea’s main issue is in the middle of the defence. The Blues have a wealth of options and yet, in the eyes of Chelsea’s fanbase, the majority aren’t good enough.
One of many problems on the pitch at the moment 🤦♂️
Chelsea have 10 senior options at centre-back including those out on loan, and versatile stars Jorrel Hato and Josh Acheampong. Axel Disasi is thriving at West Ham, while Aaron Anselmino is at Strasbourg.
Trevoh Chalobah, Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, Tosin Adarabioyo, Levi Colwill and Mamadou Sarr are also options. Clearly, that needs sorting out. Especially, with Chelsea looking to bring another to London.
Chelsea ‘poised’ to make Strahinja Pavlovic bid very soon
For most clubs, the summer window is an afterthought at this stage. There are still five games to play for Chelsea including an FA Cup final, while Paul Merson thinks Champions League football is a possibility.

Yet, Chelsea are plotting. The Blues have been strongly linked with Milan’s Serbia international Strahinja Pavlovic and now, CalcioMercato say the Blues are ‘poised’ to make an offer for Pavlovic very soon.
Indeed, an official offer could surface in the next few weeks. With the season drawing to a close this month, the move to sign Pavlovic could be Chelsea’s first transfer bid of the summer market.
Why do Chelsea want to sign Milan defender Pavlovic?
Chelsea have been woeful when it comes to defending from crosses this season. Colwill has been injured all season, though the England star could make his belated return against Nottingham Forest on Monday.
Colwill and Tosin are probably Chelsea’s best defenders in the air, yet Tosin was constantly overlooked by Rosenior and Colwill remained sidelined. Chelsea need a marauder, a big powerful presence at the back.
PROVE ME WRONG: Pavlovic would be the perfect centre-back signing for Chelsea 💥
Left-footed, £35m and scores goals. Perfect.
A John Terry-like defender. Well, Pavlovic is that and not only at the back, but in the opposition box too. Recently, for Serbia, Pavlovic netted a stunning overhead kick in a friendly win against Saudi Arabia.
Pavlovic has scored four goals for Milan this season, and six in 69 appearances for the Italian giants. He is a threat in both boxes, a big imposing threat and excellent on the ball. The all-round perfect defender
