Ivan Toney is linked with a potential return to the Premier League with Chelsea or Tottenham.
In 2024, Ivan Toney left Brentford and joined Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli, where he plays alongside former Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
The English centre-forward has had no problem finding the back of the net in Saudi Arabia.

Chelsea were linked with Toney when he was still at Brentford but missed out on his signature. Will they now revisit their interest in the 29-year-old frontman?

Chelsea linked with Ivan Toney but have one worry
According to CaughtOffside, London rivals Chelsea and Spurs are both interested in Toney as they look across the market for further options in attack.
The striker’s track record in England’s top division makes him an attractive solution. Even so, the player is not pushing for a move away from Al-Ahli, where he’s still under contract until 2028.
It is explained that Spurs manager Thomas Frank admires Toney after coaching him at Brentford. Meanwhile, Chelsea are looking at short-term options for the centre-forward spot but are wary of entering complex talks for someone settled in Saudi Arabia.
Toney scored 36 goals in 83 Premier League appearances during his time at Brentford, so we can understand that teams are contemplating him.

Do Chelsea need another striker?
Although the Blues appear to be on the search for a number nine, we are not convinced it is essential for 2026.
Young Chelsea striker Marc Guiu, who’s been promised more minutes, is backing up Joao Pedro as the spearhead for the attack. In addition, Liam Delap’s injury update is that he’s expected to be back playing for Enzo Maresca’s side before the end of the calendar year.
In fairness, the idea of Toney on a short-term basis to add more firepower isn’t the worst idea. It is so important to remember the imminent return of talented forward Delap, though.
