Chelsea could now have another chance to sign Yunus Musah after Valencia changed their stance on the United States international.

That is according to COPE in Spain.

So, what are the details involving Chelsea and Yunus Musah? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, it is said that Chelsea made a €35m (£30m) bid to sign the 20-year-old back in January, on transfer deadline day to be precise.

However – at that moment in time – Valencia were fighting against relegation in La Liga, and did not want to sell Musah with so little time remaining in the window to find a replacement.

Now, the Spanish giants have a different outlook on the situation after managing to survive in La Liga.

COPE believe Valencia are open to selling Musah this summer, although it is said that they will not just give him away for the sake of it.

The Spanish news outlet do not specify any asking price for the American – who Jack Wilshere called a “talented player” – although it is mentioned that he has a release clause worth €100m (£86m).

Therefore – while Valencia are unlikely to demand that much – Chelsea may have to increase their £30m January bid by at least £10m or £20m.

Chelsea have Musah alternatives

If Valencia do stand firm on Musah’s release clause, then Chelsea have alternative options they can pursue instead.

One of those is Amadou Onana from Everton.

A report from Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri claimed that Chelsea have opened talks to sign the Belgium international, with Le Soir since adding that the 21-year-old himself is keen to leave.

Chelsea have also been strongly linked with moves for Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo, so there is no need for the Blues to be held to ransom by Valencia over a deal for Musah.

Be sure to keep an eye on developments, as Chelsea are set to sign at least one new midfielder after losing N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic.
