Chelsea have entered discussions about a deal to sign Everton star Amadou Onana.

That is according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

Amadou Onana, 21, was linked with a potential move to Stamford Bridge earlier in the year. In fact, Foot Meracto claimed in January that Onana rejected a transfer to Chelsea during last season.

Now, there’s fresh claims that the Everton midfielder is in Chelsea’s sights again.

Tavolieri has reported on Twitter this week that Chelsea have now revived interest in signing Onana from Everton.

He claims that there is “strong interest” from the Blues in the Belgium international, who is open to leaving Goodison Park in the summer transfer window.

Also, Merseyside club Everton need to raise cash from sales and will demand £55million for Onana.

Onana enjoyed a decent debut season last year in English football, showing his potential in an Everton side that narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League.

The ‘outstanding’ youngster is an all-action defensive midfielder that has so many great traits.

He’s a real powerhouse that tackles aggressively and covers a lot of ground. There’s still improvements to be made with his work on the ball, though.

At the age of 21, Onana is definitely a very exciting youngster that fits the mould of Chelsea’s signings under the current owners. We badly need to sign a new defensive midfielder in this transfer window, too.

However, we’re more than sceptical about going anywhere near a £55million price tag.
