Chelsea say no to getting rid of top youngster on deadline day after he starred in pre-season

Chelsea have parted ways with a number of players in the final hours of the summer transfer window, however have decided not to allow one youngster to leave the club.

The highlight exit as far as the finances are concerned is Nicolas Jackson, who has finally got his move to Bayern Munich after it looked as if the Blues were going to cancel their loan deal for him.

He has been allowed to go after Marc Guiu has been recalled from his loan at Sunderland, with Chelsea feeling as if they needed reinforcements following Liam Delap’s injury.

A lot of work has gone in to finding temporary suitors for some of the younger players at the club. Jimmy Jay Morgan and Omari Kellyman have made moves away from the club in the final hours of the window.

Chelsea say no to getting rid of Genesis Antwi on deadline day

One player who was heavily linked with a switch was Genesis Antwi. Strasbourg were linked to Antwi in the latter days of the window.

The young winger has already made his first team debut, making a couple of substitute appearances during the Conference League campaign last season.

It looks as if he is set to remain at Stamford Bridge, with journalist Sacha Tavolieri saying: “Genesis Antwi finally set to stay at Chelsea FC.”

Antwi signed his first professional contract last season, and will definitely have impressed Enzo Maresca during the recent pre-season campaign.

Antwi made statement in Chelsea’s pre-season campaign

The Blues only had two games to warm up for the 2025/26 season, and Antwi made an appearance off the bench in the first friendly against Bayer Leverkusen.

He was on hand to register an assist in the last moments for Joao Pedro, proving the quality which Chelsea have coming up through their academy.

He has been a regular for the U21s so far this season, however will certainly be in the manager’s thinking when it comes to any youngsters who get the chance at some stage in the season.
