Chelsea definitely haven’t had a problem scoring goals this season, but they’ve just been linked with a Premier League striker.
There’s a lot of attacking firepower in the Chelsea squad right now, especially in the centre-forward position. Both Christopher Nkunku (10) and Nicolas Jackson (six) have found the back of the net with relative ease in the opening few months of the campaign.
Darren Bent claims Jackson is perfect for Chelsea’s system with the way that he’s leading the line right now. Meanwhile, Nkunku is the clinical back-up striker scoring goals for fun in various cup competitions.

Chelsea scouts watching Evan Ferguson
Journalist Simon Phillips claimed via Substack on Wednesday that Chelsea scouts are still monitoring Brighton’s Evan Ferguson this season.
It is explained that the Blues have been keeping a very close eye on the 20-year-old Brighton striker. Despite the youngster’s injury problems, Chelsea still massively rate the attacker and see potential in him to develop into a top No.9 in the future.
Phillips adds that Enzo Maresca’s side continue to watch Ferguson performing this campaign, whether that’s for Brighton or on the international stage with the Republic of Ireland.
In addition, Chelsea do have interest in signing Ferguson and will keep an eye on his availability in the near future, but there’s nothing advanced yet.
Back in May, Chelsea were mentioned as suitors for Brighton frontman Ferguson, so it’s interesting to hear his name pop up again.
Don’t write off Evan Ferguson despite quiet season so far
Alan Shearer described Brighton star Ferguson as “very special” last year via The Athletic. If the Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer rates you, there’s clearly something you’re doing right.
In 73 first-team games for Brighton, Ferguson has scored 17 goals and at times looked a complete package in the striker position. However, the youngster has had several injuries problems alongside that as well to stall his progress.
It’s been a quiet and underwhelming 2024/25 campaign so far for the highly-rated striker:
| Competition | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Premier League | 6 | 1 | 0 |
| Carabao Cup | 2 | 0 | 0 |
Ferguson will surely receive a confident boost from scoring the winning goal in Ireland’s 1-0 victory at home to Finland last week in the Nations League. He’ll be hoping to take that into his club form in the games ahead, but he’s got in-form teammate Danny Welbeck to try get past.
