There’s several players in the current Chelsea side that appear to be really enjoying their football right now.

It was another busy summer of change at Stamford Bridge a few months ago, this time with Enzo Maresca coming in and replacing Mauricio Pochettino as the Chelsea manager.

In fairness, Maresca has settled very quickly in the dugout to impress everyone. His team sit third in the Premier League table after a positive start to the campaign, but can they continue this momentum during a busy festive schedule?

Darren Bent thinks Nicolas Jackson is perfect for Chelsea

TalkSPORT pundit Darren Bent has praised Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson by claiming that he’s the perfect profile to lead the line for the current Blues side.

So far this season, the young striker has impressed by scoring six goals and creating three assists in the opening 11 Premier League games. The fact that he’s keeping Christopher Nkunku out of the best XI tells its own story as well.

When asked if Jackson is the answer as Chelsea’s No.9, Bent told talkSPORT: “Yeah, I think so. There’s still more quality out there, of course. But, certainly the way that they’re playing, he seems perfect for it.”

Ben Foster recently suggested Chelsea’s Jackson doesn’t get enough credit, but it feels like he’s slowly winning his doubters around with some impressive form this season.

At the age of 23, Jackson is still a young forward learning his craft. This is only his second year in English football, too.

Nicolas Jackson’s Chelsea career so far

There’s been a noticeable improvement in Jackson’s all-round game in the opening months of this 2024/25 campaign, so the challenge now is to continue that and find real consistency.

Could Nicolas Jackson win the Ballon d’Or in the future?

Kalidou Koulibaly thinks Chelsea’s Jackson can eventually win the Ballon d’Or, which is the annual individual prize handed out to the world’s best footballer. Incidentally, Manchester City star Rodri took home the 2024 prize.

Unfortunately, it’s not an opinion that too many people agree with.

During the talkSPORT interview above, Bent was asked if Jackson can win the Ballon d’Or in the future. He responded: “I don’t think so. I think there’s too much quality for that. There’s too much quality in the world. Listen, he’s good. You wouldn’t put him in the top three or four in the Premier League, let alone the Ballon d’Or.”

In addition, Alan Brazil can’t picture Jackson ever winning the Ballon d’Or. He doesn’t believe the Chelsea striker can ever reach the pinnacle of the world’s elite player.
