Chelsea will be keeping a close eye on Ligue 1 defender Arouna Sangante this weekend.

Arouna Sangante, who’s just 21, is a highly-rated defender playing his football in the French top division.

Despite his youth, the centre-back is the captain of Le Havre.

He played a key role in Le Havre achieving promotion from the French second tier last season and he’s carried that form straight into this year.

Apparently, there’s going to be several suitors watching him on Sunday when Le Havre host Lyon in a league match.

TEAMtalk has claimed that scouts from Chelsea, Manchester United and Fulham will all be in attendance tomorrow to watch Sangante in competitive action.

It is explained that the Premier League trio all plan to look over the 21-year-old this weekend, but it’s one of several checks from hem all during the campaign so far.

The report mentions that Le Havre may be prepared to sell their young centre-half for the right price. Also, the player is open to the idea of leaving to test himself at the highest level.

Sangante has emerged on the radar of clubs after a stellar 18 months, so could we see a Premier League club move for him during this January transfer window?

On paper, Sangante is a tailor-made signing for Chelsea’s ownership given hi youthfulness and incredible potential.

It’s interesting to think whether or not the Blues need another central defender, though.

Mauricio Pochettino’s squad does have a stack of defensive talent when everyone’s fit, albeit we’ve not seen Wesley Fofana or Trevoh Chalobah play yet this season due to injury. That does still leave the like of Thiago Silva, Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile and Levi Colwill, though.

If Chelsea want to go out and sign another defender, we’d much rather a profile that has bags of experience.
