Chelsea have set their sights on RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo as a potential transfer target.

That is according to a report from Mundo Deportivo.

They claim that Dani Olmo, 25, is attracting interest from the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Real Madrid. He’s got a €60million (£52million) release clause, too.

This comes at a time when SportBild claims that the Leipzig attacker will probably exit the German club next summer, with Barcelona the most likely club to sign him.

Described as “incredible” by Pep Guardiola in 2019 (The Mirror), Olmo’s reputation has been on a rapid increase in the past few years now.

The versatile playmaker, who can play in wide or central attacking positions, is a top performer in the German Bundesliga with Leipzig. He’s scored seven goals in 34 senior international caps for Spain, too.

He started this season with five goals in four games across all competitions before suffering a knee injury.

In our view, Chelsea don’t need to invest any significant interest in Olmo.

Yes, he’s a super talent with a lot of ability. However, this isn’t the type of profile that the Blues squad needs.

If Mauricio Pochettino’s side could strengthen one position in the New Year, it would be at striker.

Chelsea are lucky to have the likes of Cole Palmer, Christopher Nkunku and Carney Chukwuemeka as creative playmakers in the squad.

We certainly don’t want the club to go back to piling the squad with 40 players, which is a formula that will never work for anyone.
