Chelsea should ask Manchester United for £73m star in exchange for Mason Mount – opinion

Chelsea are currently at a crossroads when deciding what to do with Mason Mount.

All the reports are saying that he now has his heart set on a move away from Stamford Bridge, and this is backed up by him agreeing personal terms with Manchester United over a possible deal.

However, after three bids for his services there is still no agreement on the table to secure him a move up to Manchester, and negotiations seem to have reached a bit of an obstacle.

There is still a partially decent gap in what the two parties value Mount at, and perhaps there may be other ways they can look to explore striking a deal that is beneficial for both parties.

Chelsea should look at Sancho

This may include posing a swap deal between the two teams in order to both get something they are looking for. It is a method Todd Boehly has looked to use numerous times since taking over Chelsea.

When looking at players United may be willing to let go, no name stands out more than Jadon Sancho, who they signed originally for £73m two seasons ago.

It is believed that they would be willing to accept a much lower fee for selling him this summer, and that could be perfect for a team like Chelsea looking to build their new-look squad for Mauricio Pochettino.

The England international would be able to operate anywhere across the three support players the new manager is likely to deploy behind the striker, and this includes the central role that could lose a lot of depth with the departure of Mount.

He has plenty of experience in European football already too, and this could be crucial for players such as Noni Madueke to learn from in the coming seasons.

Things have certainly not gone to plan for the 23-year-old since he made the switch from the Bundesliga, but his numbers whilst playing for Borussia Dortmund suggest there is still a player that has potential to explode in England.
