Chelsea are still keen to sign Gabriel Moscardo from Corinthians – but negotiations have now cooled after the Blues made an opening bid.

That is according to Gazeta Esportiva.

So, what is the latest on Chelsea target Gabriel Moscardo? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well – according to another Brazilian news outlet in Lance – Chelsea are favourites to sign the South American wonderkid ahead of Barcelona, Manchester City and Arsenal.

Like Gazeta Esportiva have reported, Lance also claimed that Chelsea have made an initial offer worth €25m (£21m) for Moscardo, although Corinthians want €30m (£26m).

Despite that gap in valuation, it sounded as if Chelsea were still in a strong position to sign the 17-year-old, as he is represented by Giuliano Bertolucci, who the Blues recently did business with when signing his clients Angelo Gabriel and Deivid Washington.

Now – however – talks have cooled.

Gazeta Esportiva believe there has been no contact between Chelsea and Corinthians ever since that opening £21m bid was rejected.

However – at this stage of the Moscardo saga – Chelsea are offering the most money, so if Corinthians fail to receive another bid, they may return to the negotiating table to discuss that £21m offer.

No need for Chelsea fans to panic over Gabriel Moscardo deal

In our view, Chelsea will get this deal wrapped up – despite talks hitting a wall for now.

As aforesaid, Chelsea have already put the most money on the table, and even if another side outbids the Blues, you can be sure of Todd Boehly upping his offer to win the race, as the American did with Moises Caicedo.

Ultimately, Chelsea fans won’t be seeing Moscardo in action anytime soon even if an agreement is found in the coming weeks, as the aforementioned Brazilian news outlets believe a loan back to Corinthians is the plan until the summer of 2024.
