The battle for Morgan Rogers’ signature has officially turned into a two-horse race after Chelsea’s interest in the England midfielder.

The transfer battle heating up around Morgan Rogers is a direct testament to his breakout season at Aston Villa. Elevating his game under Unai Emery, the 23-year-old has terrified Premier League defenses, and now he’s set to test himself on the biggest stage of all at the World Cup.

Rogers has even caught the eyes of Chelsea, with a close childhood connection to Chelsea superstar Cole Palmer, with whom he shared a partnership coming up through the Manchester City academy.

And the one positive for Chelsea is the fact that Rogers supposedly isn’t bothered about the lack of Champions League football, as he weighs up his decision.

Morgan Rogers wants Bayern Munich or Arsenal

According to Football Transfers, Morgan Rogers’ representatives have held extensive talks only with Arsenal and Bayern Munich.

Both clubs are currently the only destinations the Aston Villa star would seriously consider this summer.

The devastating part for Chelsea is the fact that the report states that, currently, if a move to either of those teams fails to materialise, the England attacking midfielder would be likely to remain at Aston Villa for at least another season.

Chelsea seems to be more focused on a versatile attacker

While Chelsea’s hierarchy are actively hunting for a versatile attacker, their absolute fixation on positional fluidity explains why they aren’t aggressively gatecrashing the race for Morgan Rogers.

The Aston Villa star perfectly fits the criteria of an explosive forward capable of occupying multiple roles across the frontline. However, with Rogers narrowing his sights exclusively on Arsenal and Bayern Munich, it makes sense for Chelsea to look elsewhere.

Someone like Jarrod Bowen looks like a better option and would be available at a much cheaper price.
