Borussia Monchengladbach attacker Marcus Thuram.has reportedly decided he wants to join Chelsea this month.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea are in advanced talks right now over a move to sign the 25-year-old Gladbach striker.

It is explained that the Blues are in pole position to bring the France international to Stamford Bridge.

The report says that Thuram has had a change of mind during the last 24 hours and is now tempted by Chelsea’s offer.

He was initially preferring to leave Gladbach in the summer when his contract expires with the German Bundesliga side, but a transfer mid-season is now on the cards.

Marcus Thuram wants Chelsea

It’s a really significant update that Gladbach’s frontman has decided he wants a move to west London.

Journalist Florian Plettenberg claimed on Twitter earlier this week that Thuram plans to stay with Gladbach this winter. However, Di Marzio’s update suggests a change of heart.

He’s a proper forward with 13 goals in 17 games across all competitions so far this season. In comparison, Raheem Sterling is currently Chelsea’s top scorer with six goals in total.

It’s obvious Graham Potter is still trying to figure out his best attack, with Chelsea only scoring 21 goals as a team in 18 Premier League matches.

Kai Havertz, who did lead the line in last night’s 2-1 defeat to Fulham, appears to be the preferred striker option at this moment in time. Both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and David Datro Fofana were unused substitutes on Thursday evening.

Therefore, it feels pretty significant that Chelsea sign another forward before the January window shuts.

Thuram has never played Premier League football before, but he does fit the profile of what Chelsea need at the top end of the pitch.

The Frenchman should give the Blues a presence in attack to bring others into play around him.

Hopefully, Potter’s side can put their foot down and accelerate this deal along quicikly.
