Chelsea are really interested in signing Valencia and United States midfielder Yunus Musah, according to reports.

Well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that the Blues were following the 20-year-old talent during last year’s World Cup.

It is understood that Graham Potter’s side, along with Arsenal and Inter Milan, are still interested in the Valencia star.

When speaking on the House of Champions Podcast, Romano said: “I think whatever happens with Valencia I see him leaving in the summer. In the Premier League there is strong interest. During the World Cup Chelsea were following the player. Arsenal, of course, know the player very well he was there so he is a player they are monitoring. Also Inter, they are looking for that kind of player, so Musah is a player they are following.

“My expectation is for him to leave and from what I understand, Chelsea, Arsenal and Inter are the most interested clubs, but it will take time.”

Romano suggests that Musah will leave Valencia in the summer, which is no real surprise considering they find themselves in the thick of a relegation battle in La Liga.

However, Chelsea could have a challenge from Arsenal and Inter for his signature.

Musah, who had an eye-catching World Cup, is an extremely bright talent at the age of 20.

The all-action central midfielder is an ever-present in the Valencia starting line-up with his huge athleticism and technical quality.

On paper, he looks like the perfect midfielder for Premier League football.

If Musah wants to know more about Chelsea and the English league, he could ask international teammate Christian Pulisic for more detail.

Valencia’s rising star previously raved about the “brilliance” of Pulisic, so could the duo reunite at Stamford Bridge next season?

The Athletic explained in December that Valencia would demand north of €20million (£17million) for Musah. What will his price tag be like come the summer, though?
