Everton are reportedly dropping their asking price for Anthony Gordon, who’s a player on the Chelsea radar this month.
According to The Telegraph, Everton are expected to drop Gordon’s price tag from £60million to around £40million as they push to sell him in the final week of the January transfer window.
It is explained the Toffees need to sell the 21-year-old to raise funds for their next manager, with the club searching to find a replacement for Frank Lampard.
The report explains the Merseyside club’s position over Gordon has been weakened by the fact the player has skipped training for a third day in succession.
Newcastle have been in talks about a potential deal for the Everton winger and his new £40million asking price should be closer to their valuation.

Chelsea interest in Anthony Gordon
The Telegraph says it remains to been seen whether or not Gordon’s new valuation will encourage a ‘last-gap’ bid from Chelsea, but the suggestion has at least been made.
In addition, the report explains that Graham Potter’s side have renewed interest in the Everton attacker this month after pursuing him in the summer. The Blues are currently prioritising the signing of a new right-back and a midfielder in the next few days, though.
FootballTransfers reported this week that Ross Barkley has advised Gordon not to make the move from Goodison Park to Stamford Bridge.
Barkley never managed to live up to expectation during his time as a Chelsea player, but that’s not to say Gordon would follow his same path.
