Report: Ross Barkley has actually told 21-year-old not to sign for Chelsea

Reports have claimed that former Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley has advised Anthony Gordon not to make the move to Stamford Bridge.

According to FootballTransfers, the 29-year-old has warned the youngster of the distractions of living in London as a reason to not make the move down south.

Gordon was strongly linked with a move to join Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea last summer, a move which certainly left fans with mixed feelings.

The interest seemed to turn the Englishman’s head, with his performances falling off a cliff this season.

This has been somewhat of a catalyst to Everton’s dire Premier League season, with former manager Frank Lampard unable to rely on him before he was sacked.

He has just three goals in the league this season, although has only found the net once since August when he was being hunted by the Blues.

As of now, it looks as if Gordon will be making a move to St. James’ Park and join high-flying Newcastle United. Eddie Howe kept tight-lipped over what the future holds regarding a transfer, although FootballTransfers have claimed he is very intrigued by the project under the English manager.

Barkley meanwhile has looked to revive his career away from home, as he features for Nice in Ligue 1.

He notably scored a stunning goal recently, showing there is still some quality despite being out of favour at Stamford Bridge in recent seasons.

Chelsea have already strengthened big time in the wide areas. They have added Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke to their ranks this month.

The Ukranian, playing in the exact same position as Gordon, has already impressed greatly across the city at Anfield.

His pace and ability to take on defenders has something that’s not been on show from a Chelsea player for a long time, and has excited Blues fans after just half an hour.
