Chelsea want to bring Benfica’s highly-rated defender Antonio Silva to Stamford Bridge.
Antonio Silva, who’s just 20, is one of the most exciting young centre-backs in Europe right now.
He’s emerged as a key player for Benfica in the last couple of seasons. The youngster’s got seven senior international caps for Portugal, too.
There’s transfer rumours this week that suggest Chelsea want to sign Silva. However, they’ll have to dig deep into their pockets just like last year when they signed Enzo Fernandez from Benfica.

According to The Sun, Chelsea are eyeing a move to sign Benfica’s Silva.
It is understood that Blues scouts watched the 20-year-old last week and think he can be a future star in their defence.
The report says that Mauricio Pochettino’s side hope to fend off rival interest from Liverpool and Manchester United in the Portuguese talent.
In addition, Chelsea have already failed with their opening proposal for Silva. They offered the Portuguese club £52million plus Armando Broja for the centre-half.
Instead, Chelsea have been told they’ll have to pay Silva’s £89million release clause in full.
Chelsea interested in Antonio Silva
Silva becomes the latest centre-back linked with a potential move to Chelsea.
Unlike plenty of the other targets, Silva’s already accumulated top experience in Champions League and international football.
Interestingly, The Mirror previously reported back in 2022 that Cristiano Ronaldo once recommended Silva to Manchester United when they were considering signing the Benfica rising talent.
Described as “clever” by former Benfica academy coach Filipe Coelho (The Athletic), Silva looks like a star for the future.
Will we see Chelsea yet again splash the cash under this ownership on a marquee addition?
