Chelsea were considering a late swoop to sign Joao Felix – but the Portugal international is now joining Barcelona.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano.
So, what are the details regarding Joao Felix and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, it was 90min who claimed that Chelsea were exploring a late move for the 23-year-old.
Mauricio Pochettino has lost a similar forward in Christopher Nkunku until December due to a serious knee injury, and it is said that a number of senior officials on Chelsea’s board felt Felix was exactly the man needed to step in.
90min added that the Viseu-born forward enjoyed his time in London, suggesting that he would have been open to returning to Stamford Bridge if the opportunity arose.
Now – however – Felix is moving to Barcelona.

The reliable Romano revealed on Twitter that the Portuguese attacker’s plane is set to land in Barcelona shortly, where he will then – presumably – undergo a medical and discuss personal terms with the Spanish giants.
Joao Felix would have been a solid signing for Chelsea, but Barcelona move is no nightmare
In our view, Felix would have shone under Mauricio Pochettino – after all, he did well under Graham Potter and also Frank Lampard in far worse setups.
However, losing out to Barcelona is not the end of the world.
Felix earns £241,165-a-week, which is a huge salary for someone who is only really needed as cover for Nkunku between now and December.

Cole Palmer has also arrived at Chelsea now, lessening the need for a new attacker at Stamford Bridge.
Be sure to keep an eye on developments at Chelsea today – by the looks of it, outgoings are more likely than any further incomings.
