Chelsea will be offered the chance to sign Real Madrid’s Andriy Lunin.

That is according to a report from The Sun.

Andriy Lunin, 24, is the second-choice goalkeeper for Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Now, he could be offered to Chelsea in a deal that involves Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Chelsea interest

The Sun claims this week that Real Madrid are now willing to turn Kepa’s loan deal with them into a permanent one.

Chelsea sent the 29-year-old shot-stopper to Madrid on a season-long loan this year, which is a deal working out well for all parties so far.

It is understood that the La Liga club wants to sign Kepa on a permanent basis, but won’t pay more than £17.5million. The Spain international is prepared to take a cut on his £176,000-a-week wages, too.

The report adds that Madrid may offer Lunin to Chelsea in a part-exchange deal to help matters.

In quotes relayed by the Daily Mail earlier this month, Kepa admitted he hopes his move to Madrid is permanent.

Andriy Lunin profile

Lunin’s been on the books at Madrid since 2018 when he joined for around £12million (Goal). He’s made just 19 first-team appearances in that period, though.

The Ukraine keeper has been the understudy to Thibaut Courtois in recent times. Now, he’s on the bench as the back-up option to Kepa.

We wouldn’t be apposed to Chelsea scouting the market for another keeper, with Djordje Petrovic or Robert Sanchez not in that world-class bracket yet. However, we don’t view Lunin as any kind of big upgrade so would duck his signature.

Lunin is training alongside Madrid’s world-class stars on a daily basis, which includes Englishman Jude Bellingham.

Interestingly, the young goalkeeper shares that Bellingham does struggle to score against him in training.

“In training? Jude doesn’t score against me, I save his shots. It seems the only place he doesn’t score is during training, the goalkeepers are not capable of doing it during the official games,” Lunin told El Chiringuito, as translated by Footbalium.
