Journalist Jason Burt has claimed that he believes Chelsea are set to make another big bid soon for Moises Caicedo.

He told Sky Sports News that the Blues will improve their offer because Mauricio Pochettino is very keen to get the player into his side.

It emerged earlier this week that another club, who at this point are unnamed, had made a bid that exceeded the amount Chelsea had coughed up at this stage for Caicedo.

This was also combined with interest from Saudi Arabia, however no bid was close to being accepted by Brighton for his services.

A midfielder will certainly be on the agenda for Pochettino, and there are now less than 10 days to go until their Premier League season gets underway against Liverpool.

At this point, it has been at least four bids that the Seagulls have rejected from Chelsea for the player described as ‘incredible’ by Adam Lallana. They are intent on sticking to their asking price set after transfers of Declan Rice and Enzo Fernandez.

Burt has now stated that an improved bid could be around the corner in order to keep the relationship with the new manager strong.

He said: “I think Chelsea will go back in with a big offer because Mauricio Pochettino very much wants Moises Caicedo and they are light in midfield, but it’s going to be a very, very high price that they are going to pay.”

It has begun to be reported that Chelsea are lining up a number of back up targets in order to make sure they are covered if a deal for Caicedo cannot be reached.

These include Romeo Lavia and Tyler Adams, who were both relegated from the Premier League last season.
