Chelsea look set to sell one of the most expensive signings in the club’s history at the end of the season.
Right now, Moises Caicedo is Chelsea‘s record signing, followed by Enzo Fernandez.
Before Fernandez, it was Romelu Lukaku, who was sold to Antonio Conte’s Napoli in the last transfer window.
And it now looks like Kepa Arrizabalaga, another expensive signing, could be leaving Stamford Bridge permanently soon.

Bournemouth want to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga permanently
Kepa is currently on loan at Bournemouth and is impressing there. The goalkeeper recently kept a clean sheet against Tottenham Hotspur and helped Andoni Iraola’s side to beat them 1-0.
It now appears that Kepa has done enough to convince Bournemouth to buy him next year.
According to Estadio Deportivo, the Cherries will make an offer to sign Kepa permanently at the end of the season.
Having bought Kepa from Athletic Bilbao for £71m back in 2018, Chelsea are set to make a heavy loss on the 30-year-old, who is approaching the final year of his contract.
Kepa was criticised by Shay Given in October for a mistake that he made against Arsenal, but the Spaniard has improved since then.
How do Kepa Arrizabalaga and Robert Sanchez compare?
At present, Kepa’s Spain teammate Robert Sanchez is Chelsea’s No.1.
Sanchez has made a few costly errors this season, but statistically the 26-year-old is still outperforming his compatriot.
For example, Sanchez has kept one more clean sheet than Kepa and has made more saves, though he has played more games. However, his save percentage is also higher.
| Player | Appearances | Clean sheets | Clean sheet percentage | Saves | Save percentage |
| Kepa Arrizabalaga | 9 | 2 | 22.2% | 29 | 67.4% |
| Robert Sanchez | 13 | 3 | 23.1% | 43 | 81% |
When Kepa was Chelsea’s No.1, the Spain international also made some big mistakes, but he was still appreciated by the staff at the club.
“He is a fantastic guy,” Chelsea’s former assistant manager Arno Michels was quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror in 2022.
However, he is not in Enzo Maresca‘s plans and it would be a shock if Chelsea kept hold of him next summer, especially considering the amount of goalkeepers that they already have.
