Chelsea would seriously consider £50m bid for their ‘fantastic’ player – journalist

Chelsea would have to start consider selling Conor Gallagher if they received a £50million offer for him.

That is according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

Jacobs has reported this week that Chelsea would “seriously consider” any £50million bid for Conor Gallagher.

Apparently, the 23-year-old Blues midfielder has been on the radar of Tottenham already. West Ham are named as “one to watch” in this final week of the summer transfer window, too.

Speaking on his X space, Jacobs said: “Conor Gallagher, I get asked about a lot as well, I will just add – that Gallagher is fine fighting for his place and has been playing for Chelsea but once Lavia is fit and as Caicedo continues to integrate, we wait and see whether Gallagher still gets a frequency of minutes that he is happy with.

“There is always January for Conor Gallagher as well, and Chelsea won’t want to leave themselves too thin because Gallagher can get forwards and score a ton of goals. If he hits form and finds a purple patch he could be very useful to Chelsea in terms of alleviating the burden on Nico Jackson.

“But if an offer comes in at around £50 million, Chelsea would have to seriously consider it. Tottenham have looked and West Ham could be one to watch between now and the end of the window.”

Gallagher’s started all three of Chelsea’s opening Premier League matches, so we would find it a slight surprise if he’s allowed to leave in the closing stages of the window.

His energy and enthusiasm makes him a great fit for a Pochettino side. He can play numerous different midfield positions, too.

The biggest concern will be whether or not he gets into Chelsea’s best line-up once the manager has everybody in the squad available to him.

It’s worth flagging that The Daily Mail reported last week that some Chelsea staff have been adamant they don’t want the club to sell Gallagher.
