Chelsea may be about to continue a busy summer for new signings with the additions of Ajax’s Jorrel Hato and RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons. It might not be the last transfer business at Stamford Bridge, though.
It’s been a successful window so far for the Blues, adding quality players such as Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens to the first-team squad.
Ajax defender Jorrel Hato is expected to join Chelsea imminently on an eight-year contract. Meanwhile, Chelsea are getting closer to signing Xavi Simons, the talented attacking midfielder at RB Leipzig.

Chelsea may continue in transfer market after Jorrel Hato and Xavi Simons
If the Blues get deals over the line for Hato and Simons, it will be intriguing to see if there are more additions to Enzo Maresca’s talented squad.
Journalist Simon Phillips claims via Substack that the Blues have plans for the rest of the summer window beyond Hato and Simons.
Apparently, Chelsea are still going to be in the transfer market for a new centre back and a new goalkeeper.
Phillips explains that the club won’t panic buy to strengthen either position. However, there is a feeling across most of Chelsea’s decision makers that they may need to strengthen each role before the summer window closes.

Are Chelsea making a mistake?
At the moment, Chelsea’s squad looks pretty strong across the board, especially if Hato and Simons arrive.
In terms of the centre-back and goalkeeper position, we think the Blues should only go out and sign new players if something special becomes available in the final month of the transfer window.
Previous reports claimed that Robert Sanchez could continue as Chelsea’s starting goalkeeper going into the upcoming 2025/26 campaign. Many fans may feel that the 27-year-old gloveman deserves another opportunity after a strong finish to last season.
The Blues also have a strong crop of central defenders competing for two starting positions, so any new defensive signing should have to be top tier.
