Estevao Willian has really excited the Chelsea fanbase but so has Sporting Lisbon youngster Geovany Quenda.

As they did with Estevao, Chelsea reached a pre-agreement to sign Quenda, who is set to join the Blues next year.

But after dazzling for Sporting and the Portugal Under-21 international side, some supporters cannot wait until the summer of 2026 for the winger to arrive.

Quenda was hailed as a “special” kid by Thierry Henry after one performance in the Champions League this season.

Geovany Quenda unlikely to join Chelsea in January

The likelihood is that Chelsea will have to make space before Quenda arrives at Stamford Bridge.

Presently, they have Estevao, Pedro Neto, Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens for the winger positions. Whatever the case, Chelsea signing Quenda in January does not appear to be something that the club are exploring.

According to journalist Kieran Gill, who has been answering questions about Chelsea in a Q&A for the Daily Mail, the Blues and Sporting plan to stick to their agreement, which will see Quenda move to west London next summer rather than in January.

Quenda is predominantly a right winger, so if Chelsea do feel that they need to sacrifice someone to accommodate his arrival, that someone is likely to be Neto.

Neto was reportedly a target for Saudi Arabian clubs during the summer, so a move to the Saudi Pro League could be one option for the Portuguese if he is forced out of Stamford Bridge.

Geovany Quenda’s stats so far this season

Quenda is excelling in Portugal right now, providing three assists in eight league games for Sporting.

According to WhoScored, the 18-year-old is averaging 1.6 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per match in the Portuguese league.

In the Champions League, the Portugal Under-21 international has also scored one goal and produced one assist.

At such a young age, Quenda is already an attacking threat. Chelsea fans are right to be excited about the winger.
