Bayern Munich are confident of tying Jamal Musiala down to a new contract despite interest from Chelsea and other Premier League clubs.

According to 90min, the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City are all keen on Jamal Musiala, but Bayern are optimistic that he will sign a fresh deal.

The attacking midfielder was actually on the Blues’ books before he joined Bayern in 2019 and there is now plenty of talk about them wanting to bring him back to west London.

However, it does not look like it will be easy, as the Bundesliga champions seem desperate to keep hold of him.

Musiala was terrific for them last season, scoring 12 goals and providing 10 assists in the German top flight.

Chelsea want Jamal Musiala back

It is not a shock that Chelsea are interested in re-signing Musiala. As the above shows, the German can be quite a productive attacker and he is still just 20 years of age. He is only going to get better.

“He has outstanding qualities and is an outstanding guy,” his former manager Julian Nagelsmann was quoted as saying by the Bundesliga’s official website last year.

However, as much as we would love to see a Chelsea and Musiala reunion, it is just hard to imagine.

Even if the Germany international does not sign a new contract and decides to leave Bayern, is Stamford Bridge going to be his first destination? With City and Liverpool also looking at the player, perhaps not.

Right now, both clubs are miles ahead of Chelsea, especially the former after winning the treble last season.

Musiala, having played for Chelsea before, may still have an affinity towards the Blues. If so, then you cannot completely rule them out.

However, a lot probably needs to happen if the club are to bring Musiala back to west London, so a transfer looks unlikely as things stand.
