Chelsea’s £12m player was left off the club’s pre-season tour and could now be set for a spell out on loan next year.

Chelsea are currently in the United States preparing for their pre-season friendlies. Unfortunately, there wasn’t room for everyone in Enzo Maresca’s squad and some individuals were left at home.

Trevoh Chalobah was perhaps the most high-profile name omitted from the US trip. According to a report from GiveMeSport, Manchester United are interested in £25m-rated Chalobah, who’s now likely to be sold this summer.

Fiorentina interested in signing Cesare Casadei on loan

According to Sky Sports Italy, Serie A club Fiorentina may be interested in signing Chelsea’s Cesare Casadei this summer.

It is explained that Casadei, who’s still only 21, could be set to leave Stamford Bridge on loan during the upcoming 2024/25 season.

The report says that the Italian midfielder is on the radar of clubs such as Fiorentina.

This comes after the £12m youngster (The Guardian) was left off Chelsea’s pre-season trip and ultimately overlooked by Maresca.

Casadei previously worked under Chelsea boss Maresca during a loan stint at Leicester City last year, but that’s not been enough leverage to force his way into this summer’s pre-season plans.

Cesare Casadei isn’t ready yet

When you look at the central midfielders in Chelsea’s current squad, it’s fair to say that Casadei it’s still a long way off the club’s starting line-up. Therefore, a return to his homeland next season could be a smart transfer.

Casadei is a talented box-to-box midfielder that could yet carve out a long-term future in West London, but he needs regular first-team minutes to develop his overall game.

Chelsea must take some blame for halting Casadei’s progress last season when they needlessly recalled him from a promising loan at Leicester. He then spent the second half of the campaign mostly sat on the Blues bench. The Guardian reported in March the fears that Casadei’s development could stall.

Hopefully, Chelsea can get their youngster back on track with a productive loan next season.
