Tottenham are now just £5million away from Chelsea’s asking price for Conor Gallagher.
That is according to a report from The Daily Mail.
They claim that Spurs have launched a ‘verbal offer’ of £40million including add-ons for Conor Gallagher.
It is understood that the proposal is £5million short of Chelsea’s valuation for him, though.
The report explains that the 23-year-old midfielder would prefer to stay at Stamford Bridge after coming through the academy, but he’s weighing up his future due to the strong competition in the Blues squad.
Apparently, Spurs need to sell players first on deadline day before they bid for Gallagher.

If you’re a Chelsea supporter that wants Gallagher to stay, these final few hours of Friday’s deadline day could go very slowly.
Spurs may be just £5million away from signing Gallagher. Would he be prepared to move across London to close rivals Spurs, though?

Described as “really special” by Patrick Vieira (TEAMtalk), Gallagher has been extremely positive with his performances in the opening weeks of the new season.
The central midfielder has started every match under Mauricio Pochettino and looks in good form, so it’s no surprise to see him in the latest England squad.
However, we’re concerned that he wouldn’t be in the Blues XI when everyone’s fit in the centre of the park.
The Telegraph did report this week that Cole Palmer’s arrival at Chelsea from Manchester City could prompt Gallagher’s sale. Now the Palmer signing has been announced today, let’s wait and see what happns with Gallagher.
