Aston Villa are now willing to sell Emiliano Martinez this summer – a player who Mauricio Pochettino would like to have at Chelsea.
That is according to the Daily Mail.
So, what is the latest on Chelsea target Emiliano Martinez? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well – according to talkSPORT – the Argentina international is on Pochettino’s radar as he aims to find competition for Kepa Arrizabalaga this summer.
Martinez has developed into one of the most effective goalkeepers in Europe since joining Aston Villa in a £17m deal from Arsenal back in September 2020.
The South American won the Golden Glove award at the FIFA World Cup in December, helping Argentina win the iconic trophy thanks to some remarkable performances in between the sticks.
Now – according to the Daily Mail – Aston Villa are willing to sell Martinez.
It is said that Unai Emery is open to offers for the 30-year-old this summer following some heavy spending on other positions, although no club has offered anything close to Aston Villa’s asking price so far.

However, the Daily Mail, nor talkSPORT, actually state what Aston Villa’s asking price for the £100,000-a-week man is.
Martinez enjoyed an excellent 2022/23 campaign, keeping 13 clean sheets in 36 Premier League appearances, while conceding just 38 goals.
Chelsea must bid for Emiliano Martinez
If Aston Villa’s asking price for Martinez is anywhere in the region of £30m or £40m, Chelsea have to go for it.
The Blues – according to Fabrizio Romano – have already made a bid for Brighton No.1 Robert Sanchez, but if the Villans truly are open to selling Martinez, Chelsea have to move on from the Spain international.

The Aston Villa No.1 is a far better goalkeeper, and is also superb with the ball at his feet – a trait that is crucial for any glovesman in the modern game.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Chelsea could turn to Martinez if talks with Brighton about Sanchez end up collapsing.
