Inter Milan are now worried Italian rivals Juventus will beat them in the race to sign Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku this summer.
That is according to a report from The Evening Standard.
They claim that Inter believe Romelu Lukaku, 30, may now be seeking a move to Serie A rivals Juventus.
It is understood that Inter had prepared a bid worth £34million in total to sign Lukaku, but they’ve been unable to contact the Chelsea striker and his representatives on Friday night over the phone.
The report explains that Inter have been ready to match a Juventus offer for Lukaku, which is close to Chelsea’s £40million valuation.
However, the Milan giants fear the Belgium international is actively pushing to join Juventus after going completely silent. Therefore, they may now be willing to walk away from any kind of deal.

There’s certainly never a dull moment with Lukaku!
The Evening Standard explains that Juventus’ bid for the Chelsea forward was made on the condition they’ve sold Dusan Vlahovic by 4 August. This is why the Blues much preferred Inter’s proposal to get Lukaku’s sale sorted much quicker.
It’s now down to the centre-forward to make his next move, but the report adds he’s already turned down Saudi Arabia despite Al-Hilal’s £40million bid for him.
If Inter do indeed pull out of the transfer race, Juventus could have an open goal for him.

The Evening Standard has reported that Lukaku is one of the senior Chelsea players staying off the pre-season tour that flies out to the United States on Monday.
We feel that it’s imperative the Lukaku saga doesn’t drag on all summer because he clearly can’t fit into Mauricio Pochettino’s plans at Stamford Bridge.
