Reports have claimed that Roma owner Dan Friedkin has flown to London today to try and finalise a deal for Romelu Lukaku.

According to Gazzetta, the club owner wants to close a deal for the striker in the next 24 hours.

The last few weeks have not really seen much development in the Lukaku situation at Stamford Bridge.

He is still absolutely nowhere near the first team, as Mauricio Pochettino has reiterated that he only wants players at the club who want to be there.

It seems as if Chelsea are beginning to accept that a permanent deal to see him leave is beginning to not look so obvious.

Their best bet was with Juventus, however the signing would only be possible if they took Dusan Vlahovic in exchange.

Now though, it seems Roma are the most likely destination for him to land on, after they registered an interest in a loan deal a few days ago.

A transfer to the Italian capital would see him link up again with Jose Mourinho. The former Chelsea boss was the one who sent him on his first loan away from Chelsea.

With just a few days to go in the window, there is an obvious desperation for both parties to get this done.

Chelsea are currently focusing on the striker situation at Stamford Bridge, and will be delighted with the progress being shown so far by Nicolas Jackson.

He got himself off the mark in Friday’s win over Luton, with a goal the only thing missing from his overall game at that stage.

He will now be hoping to build on that when it comes to the next fame against Nottingham Forest.
