AC Milan think Chelsea target Mike Maignan as one of the world’s elite goalkeepers right now.

That is according to a report from TEAMtalk.

AC Milan keeper Mike Maignan, 28, has been a big hit in Italy since his move to the San Siro in 2021.

The France international enjoyed success in Ligue 1 with Lille, but he’s now in the conversation for the best shot-stoppers in the sport.

£70m Chelsea target

TEAMtalk has claimed today that Chelsea are eyeing Maignan as they continue to keep an eye for a world-class goalkeeper.

It is explained that Serie A giants Milan already consider the 28-year-old to be one of the world’s very best in his position, which is why they want him to commit to a new deal.

However, the report adds that the Italian club may be forced to cash in on the player if there’s any hesitation on the player’s side. He would be priced at around £70million.

Mike Maignan is world-class

Maignan’s kept 35 clean sheets in 84 Milan appearances so, which includes some excellent performances both domestically and in Europe. In particular, he was influential during his side’s run to the Champions League semi-finals last season.

There’s plenty of speculation in the transfer rumour mill that mentions Chelsea interest in Milan’s gloveman.

In our view, the Blues are targeting a world-class keeper that is equally great with his feet and saving shots.

Foot Mercato recently claimed that Chelsea are currently monitoring Maignan’s current contract situation.

We like what Robert Sanchez, 26, has done at Stamford Bridge since his summer arrival to become the first-choice keeper. But there’s much better goalkeepers out there in Europe, including Maignan.
