Chelsea youngster Alfie Gilchrist is attracting interest following his recent mini breakthrough at Stamford Bridge.

Alfie Gilchrist, 20, has captained Chelsea’s Under-21s side this season and is a highly-rated defender.

However, his name is now a topic of conversation with Blues supporters after a couple of first-team appearances in the last week.

The Evening Standard claims that Gilchrist is starting to attract interest now the January transfer window is open.

It is explained that the 20-year-old isn’t available for loan yet, though.

We’re loving these mini cameos from Gilchrist, who’s playing for the badge and quickly winning supporters over.

However, we do like the sound of him going out on loan for the second half of the season to experience first-team football.

Alfie Gilchrist attracting interest

If Chelsea can find the right club, we’d love to see Gilchrist go and play first-team football in 2024.

Football London reported earlier in the season that Gilchrist has been impressing Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

It’s great to see him rewarded with a debut versus Crystal Palace, followed by an appearance against Luton Town. However, at the age of 20, it would be great to speed up his development now with a significant move into the first-team game.

Our guess is the Championship division could be a perfect next step for the second half of the season if the right suitor can be found.

Chelsea’s youngster has the personality and ability to hit the ground running mid-season at a new team.

Let’s hope the central defender is another Cobham graduate with a big career ahead of him.
