Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Everton have made a £45m bid to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea this month.
Chelsea have been well-documented to be in the market for a midfielder this month as they look to put the final touches on what has been a sensational window for them so far.
They are reportedly confident of securing a deal for Enzo Fernandez, with the Blues and Benfica locked in talks this afternoon to try and come to an arrangement.

However, their stance may change with Romano’s claims that Everton have made a very tempting bid for Gallagher.
He said: “Everton have submitted a bid to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea. It’s £40m proposal plus £5m add ons.
“Chelsea will make a decision soon as there are also other clubs interested in Gallagher — and player has to decide his future too.”
Gallagher has enjoyed far more gametime at Stamford Bridge ever since the managerial change saw Graham Potter replace Thomas Tuchel.
The former Brighton man has already claimed to be a fan of the player, but a bid of this magnitude may be just too good to turn down for the Blues.

With their efforts to sign Fernandez leaning into British transfer record territory, they will no doubt need to be selling in the next few windows, even if the Argentine isn’t brought in.
With clubs well aware of this, they may look to sign players on the cheap in an attempt to make the most of the requirement for Chelsea to sell.
An offer of this magnitude will likely not come again, and surely has to be accepted if the Blues can bring a midfielder in this month.
