Ben Foster has delivered some criticism towards a piece of business Chelsea have just completed in the transfer window.
It’s fair to say that Chelsea have been the biggest talking point in this summer transfer window, where they’ve been so busy with incomings and outgoings.
Conor Gallagher has been firmly under the spotlight because of his proposed move to Atletico Madrid. Finally, it’s a deal that has been pushed over the line.
Journalist Ben Jacobs reported via X that Atletico wanted to finalise Gallagher’s transfer by today. This comes after the England midfielder had already been out in Madrid and had to fly back to London while the deal was on hold.
Now, Atletico have confirmed on Wednesday morning via their official X account that Gallagher is now their player.

Ben Foster not impressed by Conor Gallagher deal
According to Ben Foster, Chelsea are letting Gallagher leave the club far too cheaply and suggests they’ve dug themselves into a bit of a hole.
In fairness, it’s worth pointing out that the 24-year-old’s sale does represent pure profit on the books because of his roots to the academy.
When discussing Gallagher on his own YouTube channel, Foster said: “He is an England international player who has done unbelievable for them. Any other team, he would be going for £60/70m. That’s what he would be going for. But because they know they are desperate now, they are just going to cut it by half, so they are killing themselves really.”
Conor Gallagher will do well in Spain
It’s a big leap for Gallagher to leave his home and move to Madrid, but we’re confident he’ll excel overseas. You only need to look at the way he’s handled himself throughout this difficult transfer saga to see what a brilliant professional he is.
On paper, the tenacious box-to-box midfielder is going to suit the style of Atletico manager Diego Simeone. Let’s hope he can replicate the success Englishman Kieran Trippier previously had under him.
It’s a massive shame that Gallagher couldn’t be part of the long-term plans at boyhood club Chelsea, but we’re sure fans will keeping a close eye on how he does at his new home.
