Alan Shearer has sung the praises of Chelsea loanee Levi Colwill following his excellent exhibition against Liverpool last Saturday.
The 19-year-old earned a spot in Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week, thanks to rejecting the Reds at the heart of Brighton & Hove Albion’s defence.
Colwill lined up against Liverpool on the weekend in what was set to be one of his toughest tests to date in senior football.

A front line of Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain might not have been Jurgen Klopp’s strongest trio, but it certainly presented a potential threat.
This hazard turned out to be nothing but an amber light thanks to the contribution of Colwill.
He and Lewis Dunk largely nullified the away side at the Amex, who were also pretty wasteful in the final third.
Levi Colwill was brilliant for Brighton against Liverpool
Clean sheets have been relatively hard to come by for Brighton, with only four to their name in the league before their latest outing.
Thanks to their teenage defender, on loan from Chelsea, they secured their fifth shut out in a 3-0 victory.
“Didn’t put a foot wrong and barely gave Liverpool’s attackers a sniff,” remarked Shearer on Colwill’s performance.
His display will surely have made those at Stamford Bridge salivate further at the prospect of possibly retaining the centre-back’s services in the future.

Chelsea and Graham Potter are reportedly eager to include the academy graduate in the club’s long-term plans.
After seeing him step up against Liverpool, it’s no surprise to see why.
