Eddie Howe could push Newcastle United to sign one Chelsea star before the transfer window closes.
Chelsea may need to offload a couple of attackers after bringing in Pedro Neto and targeting Joao Felix.
Chelsea have reportedly made a bid for Felix as they look to strengthen their attack further following Neto’s arrival.
However, already possessing the likes of Noni Madueke, Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk, it looks like at least one of the three will have to go to make space for Felix.
Eddie Howe appreciates Noni Madueke
Howe will be hoping that Madueke is the attacker that Chelsea consider selling if they do go on to sign Felix this summer.
According to the i, Howe is a fan of Madueke and Newcastle have identified the winger as a potential replacement for Miguel Almiron.
Madueke featured heavily in Chelsea’s pre-season and was their joint-top scorer alongside Christopher Nkunku after netting three times.
Teammate Carney Chukwuemeka is backing Madueke to have a big season, which Enzo Maresca will be hoping for if the 22-year-old does remain in west London.
Chelsea should sell Raheem Sterling or Mykhailo Mudryk instead
Should Chelsea find themselves in a position where they do have to offload one of their attackers, the candidates to go really should be Sterling and Mudryk.
Madueke is a player whom the Blues should be looking to keep a hold of. He has so much talent and has plenty of time to get even better.
“I thought he was great,” Frank Lampard told talkSPORT when talking about Madueke after one game in 2023.
At 29, Sterling is unlikely to improve, while Mudryk still looks lost in a Chelsea shirt. He used his pace and dribbling well in Chelsea’s final pre-season match against Inter Milan, but the end product just wasn’t there, as is often the case with the Ukrainian.
With Newcastle showing strong interest in Madueke, though, you suspect that he is the more likely one to be sacrificed this summer.
